The "To-Be" Edition
“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Pattern:
You have a bucket list.
You have a to-do list.
But do you have a to-be list?
Most of us set goals for what we want to achieve…
But rarely stop to ask: “Who am I becoming through all of this?”
We make lists of places to go, things to earn, titles to hold…
But not traits to embody, identities to build, or energy to carry.
So we drift.
We unconsciously absorb the stress, the speed, the pressure to do more. We become reactive. Rushed. A little off-center — and don’t notice until much later.
Identity isn’t static. You are always “Becoming” — with or without your permission.
🧠 The Shift: The To-Be List
A to-be list is a short, intentional inventory of the qualities, energy, and character you want to embody.
You don’t build a meaningful life by accident.
You build it by becoming — on purpose.
The focus isn’t on things to achieve. It’s on ways to exist.
Your “to-be” list is your blueprint for becoming.
Here’s how to create one:
✍️ 1. Reflect on what’s missing
Ask:
What version of myself have I lost touch with?
What do I admire in others that I secretly wish I had more of?
What moments made me proud of how I showed up — and why?
✍️ 2. Choose 3 traits you want to embody
Pick what feels true — and who you want to be more of, every day. Not to impress — but to come home to yourself.
Examples:
To be the calmest person in the room.
To be grounded in quiet strength, yet flexible and open to change.
To be a good listener and a clear thinker.
To be someone who prioritizes their peace.
To be a builder, not just a dreamer.
To be curious instead of judgmental.
To be grounded when things are uncertain.
To be playful with life.
To be resilient enough to expect new opportunities, better days, and joyful moments.
To be self-trusting, even when proof hasn’t arrived… yet.
To be confident without needing external validation.
To be a disciplined finisher, not just a starter.
To be soft but not small.
This isn’t a wishlist. It’s a compass.
It’s the energy you want to carry into the world—every single day.
The Anchor:
Review your 3 To Be List weekly but more importantly live it daily
Your To-Be List is your quiet anchor.
Revisit it every Sunday.
Reflect on it every morning.
Ask:
“Where did I act from this identity this week?”
“What would this version of me choose today?”
Let it shape your habits.
Let it shift your presence.
Let it build your becoming.
🔁 If this made you pause or breathe deeper… forward it to someone you care about.
Wisdom travels best when it's shared. ✨
